Where can I get traing for hard drive repair / data recovery

February 12th, 2008, 18:46

I am looking for a place I can go for training on hard drive repair / data recovery. Does anybody know of any good places?

I am a computer forensics engineer, so I have a very strong background on filesystem level data recovery, and I am very familiar with the way many current filesystems write data to hard drives, but I really have very little knowledge about the way a hard drive works internally. We get a lot of cases that require drives to be sent off to a data recovery company to swap heads, etc. and I would like to learn how to perform some of those tasks myself.

Any ideas on where I can go for training?
