Hi Friends

This samsung sp0802n has gone through a power surge. It is well get detected , i can read all modules also except for head 1.
I try to clone it but it shows large no. of bad sectors.
Here is terminal log -

Is this because of sheer bad sectors or it could be because of damaged heads? Anyone who know samsung will be able to help me out.
Thank you

Hi Beto & Darkforce

Thanks for your replies

Yes this is complete terminal report. I tried to clone drive by disabling head 1 , now it does not giving any error but cloning is not of any use as most of the data area is skipped.
I am about to give up as data files are interdependant and if some of them lost there integrity , they will be of no use.
Thanks a lot

Hi guru's

I think i have almost the same problem....a samsung SP0802N ,spin up ok, recalibrate ok, it looks normal until this step.....now the problem:

Tryed to scan the hdd with mhdd and it looks like this: first 3.5 mil lba ok, after that aprox 3.5 mil lba bads, after that ~3.5 mil lba ok and so on.....this pattern is until the end of the drive but the portions with ok/bad sectors vary from 1.9 mil lba to 4.0 mil lba....i think depends of the zones of the hdd...

I have tested SA zone with vtools and it looks ok....don't have pc3k pci only HRT but do not support this model...

Another strange thing is in mhdd the HPA led is on but i can't do NHPA...says ok but after repower is the same. This fact is reflected also in software recovery programs witch can see only 146250529 lba (~69.7 GB) witch is incorrect....only media tools pro have seen the full capacity but after ~146 mil lba every sector is bad...

The big problem is that some photos are need it from this hdd....I have tryed Rstudio but i can see only the C partition and the pictures was on the D partition...

In conclusion..Could it be head 1 bad/weak?....a translator problem?...

Any suggestion is much appreciated. And sorry for the long post.
Thanks
