WDC 7500AAKS CHS and LBA Issue

Mates ,

this One Is the strangest Case ,I Have Two WDC Drives when I Connect The Same To My Motherboard A ASUS A8N-E Via Sata One Will Always Initialise In CHS Mode and the Other One in LBA Mode.I Have Having a Issue That the Motherboard Halts When i Try To Access The CHS HDD The LBa Works Fine .Why Cannot My Board Detect That Perticular HDD as LBA

Amarbir,

Seems like a translator problem.

It can be rebuild with a PC3K from the P-List and G-list perhaps a bad translator would probably mean a defective Firmware cause by an overflow of bad sector so if you fix Translator you should not use this drive as a daily drive you should backup your data and replace it or Backup your data make a surface scan then move the G-List to P-List and reformat the drive.

Something To Do With the Firmware Yes ,P And G Bad and Translator Issue Nope .Cos Both Are Brand NEw Drives But Purchased FRom diff People .The HDD Works Fine in diff Mboard Not The ASUS A8N-E :good:

Can You Explain why the Other SAme Model WDC 7500AAKS Gets Detected As LBA And Not the first One .the Board Remains The Same ,Its a Damn funny Situation .

Hi, have you tryed to reflash your bios with a newer version....or set the default settings in bios?
