Conference for DR people.

I want to propose to set up a conference for DR people to share information and problems.

Those who are willing to participate, please respond to this topic or pm me personally.

I believe we should do something like that in US.

If such things do exist, please advice.

I think it should be an annual or semiannual event where we could discuss several issues such as:

New technologies in a Data Storage industry

New technologies in DR technologies

Difficulties with recoveries and a solutions for those problems.

Any suggestions will be concidered.

We can propose subjects to be discussed, agree on which we should discuss. Then some of us will present it.

me too. I asked to Acelab times ago to "drive" a community meeting yearly, like some (developers, users etc etc) others do... They said, good idea, thanks... no more....
There are several possibilities, from a little round table to a "convention" with speeches and sponsors...

They had one seminar in April 2007 in Moscow
In this year it in plans too in May in Moscow in the same place
You can go if you want
just learn Russian or hire translator
As I remeber on last seminar was a guy from Brasil(If i am not wrong) and he hired a translator

In addition as I know Ace DRE has a facility in Ottawa and they have courses in English

We can stay in our Lab without exchanging ideas each other.

Or, we can make discussions and brainstorming together, sometimes. In a restricted environment, in which all are DR Pros. I went in Marbella in the Acelab conference years ago and was great to know some worldwide professionals. The experience paid. I know Moscow conferences, and I was planning to go this year, but the language barrier is a big obstacle. In Moscow most are Russian, and is not easy to find a technical traslator.

Regarding DRE course, I'm talking about conferences, not courses.

I'm not a newbie, and in IMHO knowledge growns with communication. This is what History teaches. In Spain we where from different countries, not in the same market. All of us from country based companies.

I think most of us ARE in little companies. The only way to survive to big companies (Seagate, Ontrack etc) that have big R&D departments is to play in the same part of the field. I'm not telling to share secrets. But sometimes meet together is important. it makes people know each other, and next time you will have an address where to find ROM or cards...

Probably I'm a dreamer.

But some communities are organising conferences, also for freeware solutions. See JOOMLA community. Or others. It is an occasion to meet, and also to sell something for someone. Just an idea.

Is video over the internet softwares, improved to good quality yet. With maybe a speech translation tool, then Nobody need to travel. Do it from workshop/home/anywhere with fast internet connection!
