April 7th, 2008, 4:13

Hi!!
When i start my computer, i see the model of my hd in BIOS correctly, but the size is OMB, when this is a HD of 500GB.
Where is the problem? Firmware? Mechanical?

Thanks!!

It can be a firmware problem probably, but you have to take it to a data recovery company to be sure.

Hi !!

I have the same problem with another Seagate 500 Gb HD.

The model that I have got is Seagate Barracuda 7.200 11

The BIOS read correctly disk model but shows 0Mb size.

Beto, when you says "Terminal Coomand" you refers to Windows HyperTerminal tool?

How I connect to my disc firmware through hyperterminal console? I have to use the serial RS232 port?

There are any post in this forum that explain it?

Thanks to all.

I have been working with the disk with no result, but i want to post here my experiences, perhaps it helps someone else.

- I have scanned the disk with Seatools and it doesn't read the firmware and shows "error" in all tests.

- Then, I tried to run over the disk the soft "Hdd Restore Capacity", it shows that the disk security is "maximun" and the disk is "locked".

- Then, I tried to unlock the disk. First, I used MHDD Acronis Disk Director but unsuccesful. MHDD detects 0Mb capacity and shows that the disks with capacity less than 512 not support LBA mode.

- The next step that i tried to do is update firmware with the soft Oxsemi Uploader proveed by seagate, but it doen't recognize the hdd.

I keep to tryng. All the advices are welcome. Thanks. See you later !!

I have been working with this Disk with not success.

I've contacted with Seagate Techenical Support and they send me the firmware of the disk.

I have updted the hdd firmware, then I've have tried to restore the capacity of the disk, but the soft shows me that it's already locked.

Then I have tried to unlock the hdd with HDDUnlock, this software detect tha the drive is unlocked and there isn't ATA password..

i'm missing...
