maxline Pro 500 drive dead

April 9th, 2008, 5:43

Hello,
suddenly my drive (Maxline Pro 500) 7H500F0 died. It started with after rebuild of my PC, then the drive on powerup sounded a klicking noise... constantly... never would stop... the drivewas not visable... then... noticed after some power cycles that on power on, the drive spins up, moves the heads, then immediately spins down... the drive is not visable in BIOS and in Windows...
Now no more klicking, only spins up, then after 2-3 seconds spins down...
What could be wrong?? Is it worth to replace the PCB? Or is the drive itself broken?? Seagate would not fix it, since the drive was part of an OEM system, therefore Seagate would not warrant the manufacturing warranty....! :-(
If PCB (RBGHB) replace would help, where can I get one?? Tried Seagate... they would not do it!

PLEASE help! I have important data on the disk!
Regards
