I have a problem with Maxtor Quantum D540X-4K. When I enter the utility in PC3000 ISA, the drive initializes ok but when HDD Reset signal is sent to the drive before entering the utility, it starts initializing again and again.
So I connected a good Maxtor Quantum D540X-4K drive and entered the utility and then connected the bad (resetting) drive to PC3000 ISA and ran a Maxtor Quantum D540X-4K loader then checked the firmware. The firmware is all OK.
What is the problem with the drive. I have 5 or 6 of Maxtor Quantum D540X-4K drives which have the same problem.
