Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
Does anyone know if this model has adaptive data on the ROM chip? I have a dead drive(no spin) and a PCB match but not sure if I need to move the ROM. If so, which chip is it? U6?
Thanks!
A

Please give the entire model no. of the drive. In any case you need to move the ROM chip.

You need to move ROM and NVRAM (two chips)
If ROM is inside CPU you will need to find PCB with the same ROM revision
If you just swap PCB - it will not work

Hi A,
You can change the NVRAM from this PCB into another working PCB and your drive will work.
If it doesn't let me know.
Before that check the fuse of the pcb in power section.

Thanks ROb. As you know, I meant NVRAM, not ROM

Doomer,
Thanks for the response. Which chips are ROM and NVRAM? DO you have a diagram or chip IDs? Thanks for your help.
