May I know how you got this Disk. First, I am sure it is not a good WD.

for your questions:

1)this disk have Firmware problems, maybe it's a Map translater module problem;( I am sure, I hope others can give you more advices);

2)Firmware problems; maybe some changed the capacity,I think;

3)You can try our products or send it to a professional if you want it repaired, othwerwise, leave it :)

If you need my help, free to contact me!

Best Regards

Hi,

connect it to a PC as secondary master and test with MHDD.
U may try attaching the power cable just after MHDD is loaded and press shift-F3 to rescan attached devices.
then pls tell us what does it show uppon ID command!
(model name, etc)

I experienced the same thing with the Scorpio. I am testing PCB and possible head replacement. From what I hear I am not going to have much luck. Guess we will see.

I have a WD1200BEVS that won't recognize properly, but I can see it come up as ready (DRD DSC) no errors. But drive won't recognize properly. WRONG LBA, cylinders, heads, EVERYTHING wrong.

NO Mechanical noise whatsoever. And readable just fine with MHDD and others.

Looking for modules / firmware for mine.

Good luck, and keep us posted to the outcome.

PCB replacement did not work. Donor drive showed up as "does not support LBA mode or drive ID read incorrectly." Any thoughts or experience with Scorpio drive data recovery? Going to try hotswap with Deepspar and see what happens.

Learned a great deal about Scorpios since my last post. All of my manuals and datasheets were on earlier families. There were some major differences in the Scorpios that I've worked on. PM me or phone me if you want to discuss.
