PCB Swapping

Hi guys

I have a 250 WD HDD that was dead and i put a PCB for 120 GB HDD same model and it powered on, now my dilemma is its recognized as a 120gb HDD and Sometimes 8gb and after trying to boot the machine, it refused, then i tried connecting it using USB but it cannot be recognized. Please help, i need to recover the Data.

You need to place a correct board, firmware and head map
It sounds like you might have 2 out of 3 correct.
Read as much as possible about U12 chip.
