I've wd800 which start having problem. In the start i can read SA and ROM Ok and HDD was detecting fine. when i ran test on head with pc3000, i got errors on head 4 reading all negative cylinders. After 30 min it start clicking noise. It start with 5 consecutive clicks then a two second pause and then 4 clicks then pause and it last about 8 times and then it spin down. I've tried to swap matching PCB but same problem. Then i've changed head stack with a matching drive but still getting the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
have u checked the donor before the PCB and MHA replacement wether it has the same issue? What if u apply some cooling?
BTW 30 min should be fairly enough to extract the data provided the drive does not have many bads.
