Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi DR experts!
I have a drive that goes ready, but will not ID. I can use a loader file and access the SA. In SA-A, modules DIAG, ELG1 and ELG2 gave errors when I backed them up. Also, in SA-C(factory mode), PSHT and RSVD gave read errors when I tried to back them up.
Any insight into what these modules hold and if they're contributing to the problem? I check the NVRAM and it tested out ok(using Salvation Data tool).
Thanks for replies.

Update: The folks at Salvation data are telling me that I have a problem with the PSHT(P-List) module. I've fixed that(copied it from teh SA-C). Now I get zero errors from SA-A and SA-B. Any ideas on what might be causing this drive to go from ready(DSC,DRDY), then give IDNF when it's IDed?
Thanks for help.

Anyone had any luck rebuilding the P-List by (1) Clearing the P-List, (2) checking for bad sectors from beginning to end and (3) adding them to the "new" P-List?
