Hi Guys..
Need to pick your brains if I can:
I have a Hitachi HDS725050KLA360 (500GB 16MB SATA-2 7200RPM 3.5" HDD)
HDD was working perfectly, installed it into a Generic 3.5" USB HDD Case and the drive worked still for another day or two.. how ever after this it was not detected in Windows..
Since then I have tried to put the HDD directly into a PC, and it is not detected in the BIOS and did not spin up.. I have since ordered another drive (identical PN on the drive, different age) and swapped the PCB's over.. the HDD now spun up but would not detect)
I am open to Ideas on where to go to from here.. I have no issues buying another hdd, but dont want to create another dud..
Thanks in advance everyone!

if the drive is spinning up and not seen in the bios
your looking at a preamp fault as the head is not getting any information.
but the qeastion is can you hear it clicking away back and forwards
or possible the wrong type logic board.
did you match up the label of the underside of the board white sticker.
