Dears,
I have a problem with Maxtor Fireball 3 20GB drive.
PC3000 detects is as VAM52JBZ and shows as 0 capacity [MB()].
I see on the drive label VAM51JJ0 so something is wrong.
Do you have any suggestions how to get data out from it?
Regards,
Rafal

Hi,
I suppose the problem with loader but I can not find any for my drive (20GB). Hddguru contains only for 30GB and 40GB. Do you know where can I find ldr for my drive?

Hi,
I am coming back with the problem. Thanks to IRS I received ldr but it doesn't work. It stops during loading overlies. So I tried use other loaders and few work showing correct firmware but capacity is 40GB.
So when I try to pass through utility start there is an information that
- read roadmap - ok
- read roadmap extension - ok
- read zone allocation - ok
but it stops futher with error: UBA 8 reading error. Drive is not ready.
Do you have any suggestions?

Rafal

Hello,
Multiple letter is changed, this can be head damage!
Did you try to replace?
The NAR61590 fw shows up NAR6253Z with dead head!
The same letter is changed.

Fireball 3 is complex and worst HDD ever manufactured by Maxtor. Anyway, it might SA defect...
Individual experience can identify the truth.
