Platter torque

July 28th, 2008, 13:14

Hello everyone, just two questions. What would you recommend for a torque screwdriver? I have seen many ranging from 100$- lots. Would anyone be willing to share what the torque should be on the platter screws for a hitachi deskstar ic35l090avv207-0.

Thanks
Adam

i don't think it's that critical. hand tighten evenly.

after all, you only want to image the disk, not use it for 3 more years..

Don't think the exact torque in this case is important too... I always have tightened by hand and not with a torque meter (even if I have one), everything worked. Torque meter is mandatory on some high frequency circuits where the enclosures of filters etc. (we're talking about gigahertz frequencies anyway) must be closed with a certain torque, otherwise the characteristics will change...
