Recover "synced" (removed) files from your WD Passport

July 29th, 2008, 18:34

Ok, so I managed to get the process down after an ungodly number of hours spent trying to figure this out. Unfortunately, I didn't heed my own advice and overwrote many of the files I wanted to recover. But I got some back. Sigh. Anyway, DMailer was helpful, but not as helpful or friendly as they could have been, so I'm not going to post instructions here. If you need some help, you can post a message here with your email and I can email you. Remember, you must have the password for the profile from which the files were lost. If you found or stole someone's Passport and are trying to get access to their data (shame on you) this isn't going to work for you, so don't bother emailing. I'm happy to give advice for free, but since I'm a completely broke grad student who just spent many precious hours of research time figuring this out, if you would like me to walk you through all the steps of the process, I may ask for a small monetary donation via my Pay Pal account. If you're really not computer savvy, and would like to mail me your passport, I can try to recover your files for a fee (no guarantees).

I guess you can send me a private message if you don't want to post your email (sorry - am new here).

DMailer (the company that makes WD Sync) finally has all the info you really need on their website: https://support.dmailer.com/client/cont ... ontact.jsp

On their contact/support page, put in "Sync" as the product and "Data loss" as the Category.

If this doesn't work, you can try to PM me, but I don't get on here often.

Good luck!
