Hard disk is recognized by bios and windows - but in wndows it recognized only like a hardware, not as logic disk....
sometimes making some clicks, if to put one or to jumper clicks stop....

It might be bad firmware or weak heads. Does it click when you first turn it on?
July 30th, 2008, 17:07
Does it take a long time to reach a ready state?
July 30th, 2008, 17:29
what do u mean ready state?
if i put jumper on 1-2 and 5-6 no clicks at all.... firt time when i got it "dead " i was no clicks... sometime they appear , but as i said ,not when jumperred....
i want to replace a logic borah but i don't know wich i can use .... i called many stores the have only wd1600aajs.

Ready state is when DRSC and DRDY light up in MHDD. When you turn on the drive it should take no more than five seconds or so. Sata drives do not require jumpers. Take them out, restart, and try to scan the drive. I doubt your pcb is bad because it can read the serial number from the platters. It sounds to me like you have a firmware problem. Some of the critical modules needed for data translation are damaged.

Jumper 5 and 6 are for motherboards that only support 1.5Gbs Sata.
July 30th, 2008, 17:40
Not fully understood about the ready state, how can i check it?
as i said without jumpers can be clicks.... i tryed to do all the thing also without jumpers... same result...
How can i repair a firmware problem?

You would need to buy expensive equipment or send it to a pro. If data is not important then RMA the drive. The warranty ends 9/24/2008 on that drive.
