Not come across a Samsung behaving like this, they're usually bad PCB or heads, in my experience.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.
Cheers

Is the M/C 100% OK ? And also why ENG ? Seems a mild firmware corruption, only some module affected. Or maybe ROM.
Can you check and compare with another ?

BlackST...
Thanks for the reply!
M/C? Motor Controller?
I must admit, the last time I had a similar problem, the client had swapped the PCB
I repaired the original PCB, as the ROM was masked. All worked fine with original PCB.
But this one claims he hasn't swapped it!

M/C = SA in samsungs... anyway the ROM can get corrupted. I had some drives "clicking" with no obvious damage to M/C ooops... SA . The culprit : rom with defective part. Reprogrammed in-circuit, everything fixed. Anyway it's not a problem if the ROM is masked it's reprogrammable. At least as long as the PCB works and can establish communication.... Remember in samsung there are a lot of codes and downgraded drives (= different code).
