PCB Seagate ST3500320AS

Hi,

I am looking for a replacement PCB for Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB ST3500320AS Firmware: SD15. PCB board details are: PCB 100466725; Rev A DLAJ-4.

I tried looking around Google and some PCB companies. I am awaiting for their replies. As I do need it urgently, I am trying my luck here as well.

The question wasn't that unkind, rather helpful, but U may not understand that...
As I mentioned before somewhere, it is essential to do proper diagnostics at the first move. A mistake in the diagnosis can cause severe further damage to the drive... (just to mention one: what if there are scratches on the platter and he is trying to fight with the PCB...)

I think it would be better for me to explain the problem I am facing. Basically, the drive could not be detected by BIOS one fine day. I tested the drive with few different systems, but I was running out of luck. Motor was running smoothly, no clicking sound or vibration was heard/felt. I ran the tests with different power and interface cables. Power was supplied by a direct line from the power supply, I did not use power splitter cable. The drive was cool to touch but the PCB was very warm, I was running the tests for less than a minute.

I placed the drive on an insulating pad which was on a weighing scale. Reading variations while the drive was running was +/- 0.004g. It doesn't seem to have violent vibration while in operation.

I think BlackST meant buy the whole drive instead of just the PCB.

The HD powers with no clicking, sounds like there might be a issue other than the PCB.

Do any lights register when connected to MHDD?

Put your ear to it when it first powers up and see if the head sounds like its doing a little something. Listen to a functioning drive to get an idea what heads do when they first power on. This will give more data about what could be happening.

It's 90% fw issue. Buy pc3000 or salvation hw tool and put the hands on the fw after you are sure it's nothing else. ' luck.

Firmware. The tools to repair this will likely be more than the price for someone to do this for you, and the tools won't come with the expertise
BTW, fw stored on the platters, so anything can, and eventually does happen.

This drive model seems prone to a failure of the translator module in firmware: drive identifies as zero capacity. This model is not currently supported by PC3000 UDMA; I don't know if Salvation Data supports this model. Efforts to get a fix out of Seagate for this problem have been in vain. Perhaps if more people contact them they will be more forthcoming. Of course the fact that they are in the data recovery business as well does not give them a huge incentive to be helpful in this matter. Incidentally, you may want to read previous threads on this drive model with same problem.

I do rather hope the system is reporting a 0GB. At least I can confirm it to be a FW issue. I can then screw Seagate up. I called their tech support. They are giving me the exchange-problem-drive-with-new-drive policy crap again.

Essentially, I am having a dead drive that spins in my hand now.

AFAIK some disks do indeed have a backup copy of some FW modules and SA info. No idea if yours does.
