Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Good evening gurus,
I have a WD Scorpio VE drive that will not allow me to recover data. Donor drive matches for pc swap. I have attempted pc board, hotswap, module copying, and finally reverse DE after hotswapping PCB. I started reverse DE with the donor drive and stopped it, put donor drive on standby, and hotswapped. Started DE in reverse again, the drive stopped working and powered down. Motor is spinning. Heads are parked, move to center, park again and drive spins down. When attempting module copy, the 3rd module read "mdl request IO error" on donor drive. Do I need to get a donor that I can copy modules from or are scorpios just messed up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
