Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Morning/afternoon/evening/go to bed folks.
Well, straight to business.
Laptop decided to pack up, Acer aspire 5050. Screen just went poof, replaced the screen to no avail, power cord & batter also packed up so I gave up (Im not very techy) but what I was wondering is; is it possible to get the data off the hard drive (HTS541680J9SA00) without going through the effort & cost of buying another acer 5050. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
PS, I look absolutely fabulous in a dress.

Just have a tech remove the drive and put it into an external USB enclosure. Then it can be accessed by any PC with a USB port.

Unless if the drive is locked with the Acer's BIOS password, it's a relatively easy thing to do.
PS, My wife thinks I look good in a dress too.
