those are crappy disks, but we have recovered two of them. it is possible with right logic, sequence and tools, depending on problem. no one here will give you a free answer because we earn our livings this way. hang around, read, learn, help others, and you will get some help back (maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

There is programs on your drive, called modules. At least one of them failed, that is why your drive recognized as Athena "family name". Something caused it and you have to figure out what that was.

What's worst is that you need special hw tools for working with mods...

Hi MyPoor,
Data Recovery can be classified into two major categories !
1. Logical Recovery
* Partition Table Corrupted
* Accidental Format
* Accidental deletion of files/folders/partition
* Operating System Corrupted
* Virus/Worms/Malware attacks
--> Hundreds of softwares available on Internet at very affordable prices.
2. Physical Recovery
* Bad Sector developed disk
* Disk not detected by the BIOS
* Disk making abnormal Noise (Media Scratching/Head Clicking)
* Disk completely silent/dead
* Disk showing different size in BIOS (Firmware Module Problem)
--> H/W Tools like PC3000/SalvationData can be used to diagnose & get a clear-cut report of the drive,to
work on FW area, to work on SA area, to work on Mechanical area.
Above the H/W tools, you really need to study a lot, make some R&D, learn basics & concepts,
EXPERIMENT with drives, share ur experience with others here.

If BIOS detects like "athena" its because cannot read the SA "Firmware from platters" on a zone called " Engineering Cylinders, System Area, etc and its on Cyl- , by this reason the hdd only gets the microcode from PCB and show u " Athena" "Nike" "Romulus" etc, so u had a SA problem, that could be signed on ATA Registers "DRDY DSC; but when u tried to access any sector got "ABRT" wich need special tools, and of course knowledgment & experience about the topic, the SA its not like "flash BIOS" on a motherboard
Regards

NO because your drive is POKER. That software works only on DSP and is not a magic stick. It can fix the drive only in a few case. I think you must ask a pro near you for servicing the drive.
