I worked with those drives several times and almost fixed them all already.
When I have the matched SATA PCB I can transfer the U12 if found or the entire MCU and decrypt the drive, otherwise I can work directly from the USB interface PCB and decrypt the drive with another method.
P.S Not a complicated drives to fix.

MR.Unknown ,,
1-did you notice that there is Initio chip in the Pcb and it's the reasonable for the encrypt not the MCU and transferring the MCU will not Decrypt the drive
2-you can work directly from the USB interface PCB and decrypt the drive with another method
i doubt on that . NO ONE till now can do
IT 's a complicated drives to fix.

seems that you either never tried it OR never saw this OR you do not have the proper tools to diagnose the problem here

those drives are encrypted with Initio chip, just read about it in WD & Samsung also and you will figure out how people here are looking for such a solution for it.

thnx Ahmed for ur tips

Find a compitable SATA interface PCB and transfer the U12 or ( the whole MCU ) first then post the results.

Good luck.

Best regards,

Mr. Unknown or Ahmed, whatever you like it, few months back i visited your country and noticed that WD is the most HDD in egypt ( this is one ) most of DR Biz. there is REPAIRING I know alot of smart people in Egypt and my tour took really far on How many WD (Essentials/My Passport) been sold there. to be honest i saw more than 200 shops there and never SAW the WD Essentials or the one i mentioned sold anywhere.

back again to the main subject which is the Initio Chip Encryption, you might have the clone 3k (useless on this case) and sure you have the WD-SD tools Only (since most hdd there are WD) i know only 2 people own the UDMA in egypt only 2
sure again your not one of them.

since UDMA is the only tool for this job, could you explain plz for the others not me, how and why moving the ROM/MCU (regardless of the initio) and you was able to DECRYPT the Initio and extract your DATA.

if you take quick search here on this forum, you will notice alot are looking for such a solution with some secrets hidden here (experience secrets).

thnx dude again.

For example :
WD3200BMVS-11F9S0 USB interface : transfer the original chip to donor SATA PCB - xxx-1499-xx and see what will happen.
