so I've got this Western Digital 320gb Scorpio Blue drive. Looking at its smart attributes I have a Reallocated Sector count of 1635 which I am aware of being way higher than it should on a healthy drive.

My question is about the relationship of the Reallocated Sector Count and Reallocation Event Attributes. I figured the first shows the sectors Reallocated and the second shows the number of times the drive has attempted to make a reallocation but the sector count is in the thousands and the event count is 45. Its a bit strange but I may just not understand the meaning of the attributes.

I don't understand the apparent anomaly, either, but it could be that the Event count is a rolling average rather than a cumulative total.
