Samsung S2 Portable not recognised

I intentionally deleted data from the portable drive and since then my laptop will not recognise the drive as removable storage - it shows up in 'Devices and Printers'! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers without success. Also tried the drive in another computer and the same happens. I have formatted the drive as windows requested. I cannot find the '.exe' file as one instruction in the manual advises. As you can probably tell I'm not an expert so simple advice would be really helpful.
