Okay, so I own a 500GB WD Blue Scorpio HDD installed in my 5,1 Macbook, and it was in fine condition last night. I was using my Windows 8 partition, and I had set it aside and closed it. No more than an hour later I went back to the coffee table, opened it up and it was turned off. "Okay, let me just turn it back on," I thought. I THOUGHT.

It took forever to start up, then I got the '?' folder. I listened to the driver and I heard a few consecutive beeps, a buzz, then a final beep before the process continues. I checked the cable, brought it to Apple, replaced the HDD, grabbed a sled, etc. However, I have MANY important files on there and zero money to spend on Data Recovery. I did have back ups, but long story short - dumb*** worker at Walgreens dropped my one when he went to plug it in to print my photos, and the other one got damaged in a really bad flood. I had two back ups and I thought I was safe... D:

Anyway, what can I do to fix this thing? I just want to migrate all of my information from this HDD to my new one. Also, I plug it into a Mac and nothing. I plug it into a PC and the computer attempts to install the driver for the HDD, but it fails to install it.

I recommend doing nothing until you are able to afford a pro. Set the drive aside and save up and when you are ready, send the drive to a professional data recovery lab for a free assessment.

Drive is going to die . Probably too many bads caused by not proper heads parking (happend in sleep mode)

Few DIY tries and data restoration can cost much more.
