What stupid thing i did do (mostly we do something stupid to need help and search for sites like this one)! I whanted to format Windows 8 and i could not find how to, becouse its not the same as windows 7 and xp ect. to restart the pc and boot from cd ddnt help. So i right click in My computer/ MANAGE and go to the drivers... when i click format i realize it whas the Hdd with all my saved files of pictures musik and things i saved in 30 years! 1 second after i click on format i restart my PC from scassi restart button, when rebooted hdd is empty!

I have lost partitions befor and manage to recover them with Active partition recovery! This time when the App find my drives i got a massage that says that its not possible to recover. The message that i get is this: Logical structure of GPT is dammaged! You can try low level tolls like disk editor to fix GPT manualy (if u have deep knowledge of disk structures )....

..... and i dont!

PLEASE help me recover the HDD files and many many thanks for all help and tip that u can give!

Remove the hdd and run something like R-Studio or GetDataBack on it.

Repeat... Remove the hdd and run the software on it as a secondary drive, either on a seperate SATA port or in a USB caddy.

DO NOT install anything else on the hdd itself.

As you have reformatted the drive the MFT has been over written so you wont get back the folder structure. Using R-Studio you will need to do a scan of the drive. This will do a RAW recovery, it will read every sector of the drive looking for file headers ie word header, excel header, jpeg header etc
At least you will recover your data even if you do have to recreate to folders names etc.

it is a secondery drive, i have only stuff there no windows ... i have windows in a ssd drive and this is a sata2 drive? is it smart to install get data back on it or should i install the app on my ssd disk?

what do you mean with remove the hdd? format it? or remove it from the sata connector? To install something on it i need to format it first! Should i? I am new to this so please be more specific!

actualy i ddnt format i only pressed the format button and then restarted the pc..the scan i did make on active partition did find the folders to...

From what you have said "So i right click in My computer/ MANAGE and go to the drivers... when i click format"we can only go by what you tell us. For info in win8 using disk management & selecting format it will do a quick format by default unless you untick the quick format box which basically writes a new empty mft to the NTFS partition.

As previously mentioned try running a R-Studio scan on the drive but as I said before if the master file table (mft) has been over written then you will have to do a RAW recovery.
What ever you do, when recovering the files from the drive save them to another drive first don't rewrite them back to the same drive as this will over write the sectors thus losing any chances of recovery.

Loki! what i did try to say is i did not let the drive format! After pressing the button i restarted the pc... i mensioned it if it is usefull info for u! Ok i am so noob so u have to be specific.... i am telling again... i have 2 drives... one ssd where i have my windows working perfectly and i am using right now .... and the sata2 that i did have my files on and i did a format.

Now when u tell me to remove the drive... u whant me to remove it from the scassi and install it back again or u ment format it so it is a compleete format? And should i install the rstudio in the ssd/ windows hhd or in the sata2 that i have lost my files on?

remove is a physical action...... in "computer (hardware) terminology" it stands (usually) for: take something out

i.e. in your case: take this drive out of your pc.

But ...

As I do understand from your information.... this drive is allready the 2nd drive in your system and used only
for data storage ?

If so I recommend as follows:
Connect a 3rd drive (internally on a SATA port or externally via USB) a new drive

Explanation:
If you do that, I would suggest to disconnect the previously formatted hdd internally before you start that.
Then add the 3rd drive internally or externally, start Windows, format (NTFS) this NEW DRIVE only. Choose
a bigger capacity (compared to your 2nd hdd) for this 3rd drive !

After formatting the new drive, install as said by PCIMAGE either R-Studio or Get Data Back (NTFS),
close Windows, switch off the pc.

Reconnect the by error formatted drive to the PC and switch it on again.
You should see now the 3 hdd in your system: 1x SSD 1x old (formatted by error) hdd 1x new hdd

Run one of the installed programs.
The (by error) formatted hdd as source hdd and the new drive as target hdd.

It will take its time - depending on the size of the source drive

After the program has finished it will present the result and you can mark and copy files or folders to the
new hdd. You can also store the result of the scan into a file - and load it for a later recovery. As long as
you dont alter the (by error) formatted hdd that will work.

Har du en extra disk att lägga den räddade informationen på, intern eller extern usb disk?

Installera R-Studio eller GetDataBack på din SSD disk.
Skanna den formaterade disken med någon av dessa program, när det är klart spara filerna till den tredje disken (inte den du räddat ifrån)

Skicka ett PM ifall något är oklart.
