I don't know if there are any tools that allow you to search for a particular file, but I suppose you could locate the MFT record for your lost file by searching for a unicode hexadecimal string.

For example, if the filename is "ABC", search for 41 00 42 00 43 00. It might take a long time, though.

That said, I'm not sure what to do when you find the MFT record.

I guess just the regular way. Use something like GetDataBack, do a full on scan, and if the file is there, select just that file. The db file is going to have to be in quite good shape to be of any value.

Another way can be to search for *.mdb files, some software allow you to search deleted files by types, File Scavenger is a useful utility for this job, search only *.mdb files and if you are lucky enough you will get the file...
Good Luck

Agree.

UFS explorer is pretty good at finding files by type, using the "intelliraw" feature.

However, if your drive was fragmented before you formatted, then you have much less chance of recovering the file intact.
