To my understanding microjogs are determined by the offsets between the reading and writing sensors on a head and are specified by the geometry of the platter and the head, hence the type of head and the size of the platter.

In WD drives these parameters are stored on the platter and the EERPM. When the drive does not read the only means of access to the information is the EEPROM. (see post by m4sterful on http://malthus.zapto.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24).

I wonder: if the DCM value (especially value of position 5-7) determine the head, than the geometry of the head and thus the microjog values should be identical, provided the geometry of the platter is identical.

To my understanding the DCM value describes the head. Since I want to change the head a simular/identical head should be a suitable match ?
On identical heads, provided they were used in conjunction with identical platter geometry, even so called microjogs should be identical.

Could you extrapolate more and advise me towards a suitable solution ?

Even if you have identical DCM, that is irrilevant in any case, the disk may not work. AND it happens that heads that are supposed not to work , work perfectly instead.

The chances are like finding two identical sand grains in the Sahara...
Maybe it is simpler to do something else... or forget about dcm and microjogs...

Should work. But be prepared for a good tool to swap 4 heads and also after replacing heads prepare yourself for surprises.
