Have a 3TB Seagate drive that doesn't appear to have any type of mechanical issue. It just seems to lockup entirely shortly after calibrating. In Terminal I get the following output, and from that point there is absolutely no access to the drive at all...

Code:
Boot 0x40M
Spin Up
Trans.

Spin Up
SpinOK
(P) SATA Reset

Once it hits that point you can't do anything. Even if you rapidly Ctrl-z as it's spinning up, it still remains inaccessible. I haven't seen any 3TB drives with this problem. I've had one come in that had a BSY issue, but you could still gain access in terminal and the problem was able to be corrected. This is not allowing any access at all. It doesn't seem like the heads or bad, but I guess it's possible. Any suggestions or ideas? Feel free to PM if you prefer. Thanks.

What tools are you using apart from terminal?

Does it stay DRD DSC?

When you say no access at all, do you mean no LBA access?

I just use Terminal for Seagate drives. If I hook it up to DDI I can get DRD DSC. In terminal the drive just gets to the point shown above, and there's no way to get to the T> prompt. On a normally operating drive of the same model, as soon as it's calibrated you can go right into T> with no problems.
