I can't get it ready. I've designed a silly system to ensure easy, long term and reliable short circuits on the read channel pair, but this is driving me mad. LED: BD seems to mean "I don't understand the command" or "I can't do that right now". Almost anything from i4,1,22 to /2 B223a,223a to check the buffer returns LED BD.

I can provide a copy of the ROM if someone can hack the headmap tables to tell the drive to use just one head (PC3k can't understand well this ROM).

I'm still willing to pay for a solution.

Search post of Waqas_ali766 in forum you will find good results.
i already posted the solution in the forum about this problem.
this problem is only solved by short read channel on the pcb after complete calibration of hard disk.
then some time hard disk immediately shows ready status and gives access to terminal. some times it shows alot of errors for about 2 minutes then gives you access to terminal.
after shorting the pins if the drive shows this message then its ok

you need to reset power , then hdd auto recalculate all things and gives you ready status.
some time after short pins hdd gives you terminal access after showing (NO HOST FIS ERROR), if this error appear then use

some time after short pins hdd shows alot of following errors

Starting LBA of RW Request=00000000000879AD Length=00000164
ProcessRWError -Read- at LBA 00000000000879AD Sense Code=43110081

these error gone by using Disable relocations commands.

Unfortunately the web-site was offline, however I found a Google cache of it.
The cache didn't contain the images, but from the text I worked out how to locate the read channel from the HDA.

Shorting it during HD boot enabled it to get past the bad firmware on the disk, and fix some things, as you said.

The drive now is identified by the PC and data is accessible.

Yes, the drive itself will tell you the commands it accepts, if that is what you are asking.

Go to level C and Type Q:
