Working on a Samsung ST1000LM024 1TB drive that was pulled from a laptop that had coffee spilled on it. Drive PCB was pretty nasty on the underside. Cleaned with brush and isopropyl alcohol but drive is still shows no signs of life. Any thoughts on likelihood of success with a PCB swap and if so do any rom chips need to be transferred over?

You need a new pcb. You have to transfer the rom from the old pcb to the new one.
Be careful during desoldering as these are very heat-sensitive and they have a thermal pad underneath (so they don't get out that easily).

Then, hope that no liquid has entered the drive.

I have to say, that if data is important/vital, the safe way is to consult a good DR firm. They will have to confirm that no liquid has entered the drive before the drive powers up again.

Having said that, if there is liquid inside the drive and you replace the pcb and power up the drive again, it's bye-bye data.
