Hi mr_bb!
Your problem sounds like heads problems.
Is needded to open drive in a clean room enviroment.
If you have not cleam beanch, you need profesional help.
Do not turn on more times your drive because media can be damaged. in this way no data recoverable.

Thanks for the feedback.
Since the drive does not spin-up and by the sound of it, I would say probably the motor is stuck. I'm not sure why the motor can get stuck when there was no shock given to the drive.
The sound my drive makes matches with the one posted by data recovery company in Greece-
http://www.northwind.gr/en/data-recover ... ive-soundsI have checked the PCB contacts and they are ok.
I would be interested in knowing if data recovery is easy with all data or there could be some challenges.
I would anyhow go to prof.data recovery company.

I guess that there was a power cut or something to the drive and some some reason the heads failed to go on the parking ramp and are not stuck on the outer edge of the platters. Since its stuck on the edge the motor does not have enough force to move the platters to spin. It needs to be taken to a pro so they can remount the heads onto the ramp again...
