Hi, new to data recovery, a few questions, thx

Hi, I just found this forum and im really glad I did, its difficult to find data recovery knowledge, but hddguru seems to be a nice community for that.

Im going to start a data recovery business in 2015 but im still learning and practicing all that stuff at the moment.

I have a few questions, any advice is appreciated.

1. If I want to buy the tools like the platter removal tool or things like that, is ebay the best place to find most data recovery tools or you would suggest to me some other supplier?

2. Let say I have a maximum 1500$ budget and I need a data duplicator or extractor tool what would you suggest that I get for the beginning?

3. What are the price for the PC-3000 tool, like their standard product ( the udma I think?). And is it only purchasable from the company website or there is reseller from which I could get a better price or just buy it used.

4. Is there any great website other then hddguru, blogs or forums for example, that have great data recovery knowledge that I can learn from?

5. Ive hear on the web that it is required to have a real clean room in order to open storage devices and some others mentioned that you can only use a Work Flow Benche and be careful to avoid dust getting in the drive. What do you think about it?

Welcome to data Recovery industry..i think you first investment is not sufficient to get basic Equipment..

I thin you should add at least a "0" to 1500 and double the result just for start.

Unless you want to perform simple tasks.

It seems as if you are trying to start a business in which you know very little in. Perhaps a consultation is necessary. I have a program in which I help people start their own Data Recovery Business, and allocate cost based on what you need to start and what you need within 6 months. Data recovery- There is much more stuff more than expected. Even i am also gathering information related to this. Recovery of specific storage devices. First Try to understand the where a recovery is possible. Divide some sections and then start reading form the resources above or else where.

DDI3 come up for sale second hand sometimes, they are still a good investment IMHO.

Amen brother. I actually thought about becoming a chef myself (yes I'm actually quite good at cooking) but I didn't want to work the hours. Noooo, I wanted a 9-5 and have been enjoying a love/hate relationship with hard drives.

Given how much this industry is likely to change in the next 5 years (moving primarily to SSDs) its probably not the best time to try getting into it. I'm actually scared of where its heading.
