It seems there are many knowledgeable folks on this forum wrt. reviving WD MyPassport type external HDDs. I am reaching out to you all for my HDD that is completely dead - it makes no sound, no spin, the LED turns on and remains on. It is not showing up on the PC and is not recognized.
The disk details are
WD5000BMVV-11GNWS0 (500 GB)
Drive Parameters - LBA 976773168
R/N: 771675
DATE: 12 SEP 2010
DCM: EBNTJHB
DCX: XG03N81W0
S/N. WXB1A80X0234
There are a lot of threads on this type of HDD with different problems, but I have not come across anyone with same problem as mine.
I'd very much appreciate your guidance on how to get my data out of this disk.
Many thanks for your help and support.

Could be bad PCB, damaged USB connection or bad preamp inside the drive.

So how to narrow this down?

Change Pcb and move the adaptives...If the drive still not spinning, then it has bad preamp.

Then it would make a buzzing noise.

A sticktion noise would be hard for a normal user to hear.
