Hello. I've an 7200.14 HD with this problem.

I try to make the USB-TTL(2303) cable but CTRL+Z doesn't work. I put a Resistor(10K) between 3.3V and RXD and then a diode between RXD and TXD cable but CTRL+Z doesn't work.

Is necessary do anything else?

First I switch on the PC.
Second I connect the cable to the HDD. Connect the cable(I've already intall the drivers) to an USB and connect de SATA power to the HD
Third I open Putty -> session -> Serial (COM3) -> 38400-8-none-1-none and then I've a black screen...no more.

Anyone has the same problem? THANKS

I remember that this devices had a low-voltage (1.8V) TTL serial interface.
I have summarized all my recovery efforts in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=29535

Hope it helps.

Are you referring to the problem described by the original poster, (drive takes a long time to appear and is unstable copying)?

If so, then you problem is almost certainly not PCB related. If you data is important you should really just avoid powering it on at all until you have it looked at by someone with proper diagnostic equipment. Likely the issue is just a lot of bad sectors in the lower LBA's causing instability. But if you try just copying data or start messing around in terminal you're likely to just make recovery impossible.

My HD is bussy. Found well but BIOS doesn`t detect.

ghandi, thats true. This devices had a low-voltage TTL serial interface. I made the level shifter (One 10K resistor between 3.3V and RxD and then a diode. I put this cable in TxD(hd)). but when I start Putty nothing happens.
First I connect the cables. At second, I connect the usb to a port. Third I put de SATA POWER to the HD and at last, I open putty. It's ok?
Some times(with Hyperterminal) the prompt return and error like "COMX is not accesible".

Never appears F3, nothing happens.

Thanks for all!
