Maxtor 6Y084L2 ???

December 3rd, 2004, 15:35

Hi Folks

I have a strange (for me  ) Maxtor. It says in PC3000 in master mode model 6Y084L2, FW YCR41VJ0. But it is marked 6Y080L0422011, FW YAR41BW0. I need to recover data. I saved all modules. GLIST had bad checksum, fixed, but it is still not working.

Any idea ?

Thanks ! :o

Hi,

isn't it possible that some data lines on the IDE connector do not have perfect contact? In this case the floating data lines are read as ones, that could cause the things you experienced.

Pepe, thanks for the suggestion.

I clean all the contacts and used antoher identical card. Same result. I found that another LDR make disk load ldr and modules, without clacking. The strange (again) think is it is a LDR for M8FYA (my card is F4FYA)

I'm working on it and will write here results. If anybody have ideas please post

HI pijoMax tray to do what people are talking to you have pation and do not rush in.
F4Fya goes with smooth 1.0.
M8fya goes with smooth 1.2 and do not have little eprom near motor contacts.
I asked You was the board taken off?
It sould be little hard to open it(if it was not opened)
