7200.12 Revival Plan

September 24th, 2015, 2:08

Dear Friends I want your suggestion for this case -
Model - ST 3100524AS FW JC48 7200.12 1 TB Desktop

When Disk came to me it was spinning normally but no detection I am using Pc3000 Udma for which TS is not taken this year
I have only erased smart & disk has got detection , I have taken FW backup. Disk is giving read errors.
I suspect typical issue - high reallocated count , pending defects etc.
I don't want to take chances and experimentation with customers disk / data.
At the same time I am confused by translator related commands , like which and when to use.
(so many commands which varies from family to family and issue to issue , like translator recovery / regeneration etc)
even m0, 6.,, has so many variant.
What are sage steps I can take now to revive disk ?
Thank you in advance.

With respect, I suggest you take a TS with Ace :-)

They can help you a lot more than the guys on here, and connect remotely to help you. They have a couple of real good Seagate guys there.
