Model No. ST500DM002
PN0. 18D142-303
FW KC48
S C TK
SN Z3T3PHTE
This drive Detects as ST_M13FQBL
and it gives FAIL Servo Op=0100 Resp=0003
ResponseFrame 2EA0 0603 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000

I tried with another same(new HDD) model same label just serial No difference By swapping Eeprom (Old eeprom on new board )
same result
and old board with new eeprom working with new HDD
I found Eeeprom fail
Can I edit SNO in new eeprom for old drive?

your problem may heads or media damage.

if you get that the ID "ST_M13FQBL" it's means the id displayed is taken from ROM, because SA cannot read.

I would like to know whether test clip based eprom reading is technically correct ?
Idea is to avoid hot air gun for removing eprom and then reading.
Instead if I could read rom using clip based universal programmer from a burnt pcb and write it on donor pcb.
those electronic experts like Fzabkar must have indepth knowledge.

Well,
This is pure nonsense ,Many many boards are never read like this .Also there is no issue in the ROM of this mans case ,Its the drive heads .The only problem i see is that he is possibly not capably of doing it and is seeking help .If he can handle it fine if he cannot he should give it to a guy who does head swaps properly there are far to many engineers in india then required with $##^$%^ knowledge leading to hdd non recovery cases even if can be done initially

See ...

Read/Write Serial Flash on WDC Logic Boards:
http://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7192

SOIC 8 Clip :
http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=85

Note that some test clips don't appear to make proper contact.

I would also confirm that the programmer does not hardwire any pins to ground or Vcc, as this may damage the MCU. Similarly, if the PCB hardwires a particular pin to ground or Vcc, then make certain that this will not damage the programmer, or alternatively disconnect this pin at the clip or programmer end of the cable.

Another caveat is that not all PCBs will allow reading the ROM in this way (no damage, just doesn't work).

Make sure that the programmer's Vcc is the same as the PCB's, otherwise other ICs connected to the same supply may be damaged. Be aware that the programmer will be powering every chip on the Vcc supply, not just the ROM.

Well,
No Comments on this but ,Depending of the external components formation around the EEPROM is a Factor that influences the Incircuit capability of the Programmer .Proper in circuit capability is only provided if the PCB had dedicated headers for programmer which the pcb's do not have .So this is a #%#%# idea .BTW this post was created was " prasadsv " so let him decide he likes what you can create your own thread if you want to

I am just learning stage. I don't have much knowledge in depth. I tried to read data in eeprom with eeprom reader it was faulty not working
Finally I came to conclusion that was fault of eeprom. Need to find new eeprom with
Model No. ST500DM002
PN0. 18D142-303
FW KC48
S C TK
SN Z3T3PHTE
Or
Have to find SNo. editor in binary file

Usually, if there is an EEPROM problem with Seagate, the motor won't spin.

Adaptives from another Seagate EEPROM don't work on the newer Seagate drives; in other words, an EEPROM from another drive with same model / etc. won't work.

A heads issue is more likely for this model.

It is always important to make the proper diagnosis.

First I tried with hdd connected board
next I tried with pcb without connecting ( In some cases with working boards I got Sno and FW in terminal By commanding Ctrl+Z NEXT Ctrl +L) with this eeprom no results in terminal
