Hello good people!

I have a little problem here.. after my 5yo daughter swiped with a magnet over macbook pro, the screen turned white and after restarting the machine a folder with question mark started flashing..
The biggest problem is that there is noone to blame but myself for not backing up/storing online work info and photos/videos of the first 5 yeats of my daughters life.. not doing that was simply over all measureable stupidity..

pc was delivered to a company which retrieves data, but i now received following information-
1. The main modules information of RDMT, PSHT are damaged, (without these modules
the disk won't work) watch SA problem.png
2. Inside modules have physically damaged sectors ( bad bloks), it is impossible to rewrite or correct them.

I've attached photo of hdd and printscreen of what theese guys sent me..
Would that be possible to get somebodys quallified oppinion about if its possible to do anything...?

As much as i understand, they swapped the disc(s) into something.. i am way too little competent to comment on wheather it has something to do with "head-swapping"..

Ill check with them tomorrow..

If you have a tool like PC-3000 there may be some hope. If you can at least partially read both copies of PSHT, might be able to stitch together a sort of composite module. Then you can upload it back into RAM to get temporary translator going.

I could try to recover data even with broken lists.

Ok, that does not sound well..

But as much as i understand,there might still be some hope if not all layers are affected.. one should think that pc's are a bit better protected from external damage.. especially if we're talking about a not particularly strong magnet (not neodymium sort)..

So theese G and P-lists are something what is on every layer?

I doubt that a magnet can cause such data loss, at least not a magnet you have in your home.
Data can be recovered even when the entire SA is gone.
