For the people using SOIC8 clips to read roms, what clips are you using on the newer roms? I have a Pomona 5250 clip but it is too large and does not work well on the newer roms.

For instance, the Pomona works OK on a 2060-701335-005(SST 25VF010) board but I have a really hard time keeping it clipped on a 2060-800065-002(Winbond 25Q40EW) board. The chip legs are just too short I guess along with the problems of being really close to other components.

I guess what I am asking is, are there any other quality clips that work well on these newer "low profile" rom semiconductors?

Thank You! That may do the trick. Any other suggestions or tricks? I am a one man shop and sometimes do not have enough hands, lol. A clip would be better, but the pogo pin adaptor might have to do.

If pcb hasn't any short circuit on 5V rail, you can read/write rom by using a tool as WD Marvel (you just need to connect the pcb via sata).

If you need to backup rom from WD usb drive, you can backup the it by using terminal connection, Samsung adapter and WD Marvel.
