I have a Seagate st31000 1tb hdd. When I bought it used the shyster hooked it to a pc to "test" it. He said it was a good drive. However, it does not work. It is seen in BIOS but when I try to access it I get. It does not show up in file gnome disks but a 4gig volume shows up with the id of sd_m13fqbl. This id is not on the drives label at all. What can be done to find if this drive is repairable or at least what is the actual problem? I have never done drive repair but am willing to try to learn. Should I pursue or throw it away?

The drive does not work correctly.
That ID is a default ID the drive displays when the drive fails.to read the firmware off the disks.
Typically, it is due to a mechanical problem.
Not worth the parts and time to do anything.
