IBM PN596611 Ultra2 problem

May 26th, 2024, 20:10

Hey everyone, i have an IBM PN596611 drive that I am trying to install Windows NT on, card is an Adaptec 2940U2W, default settings, i have created a 4GB partition and formatted it as NTFS, but when setup reboots to begin the install process, OS loader 4.00 hangs and then gives this error... "Windows NT could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem, could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware." Other drives work fine on this controller, jumper settings are also default on the drive itself. I will mention that this drive when detected by the SCSI BIOS, says IBMAS400, which i'm suspecting may be an issue. Any ideas? please help...

Try to scan the drive with HDTUNE or any other program that scans the platters for bad sectors.
