DR Software Used

July 13th, 2005, 16:52

Hello all. I wanted to make a contribution to the forum, so here it goes.

Here is a list of software I have recently tried and liked with great success:

GetDataBack |Fat & NTFS| (Works well for everything except pictures)

Media Tools (Works great, although only recovered about 75% of missing data)

Recover My Photos (Awesome tool! Recovered over 95% of deleted photos)

PC Inspector (Very good program, but crashes quite a bit. Recovered almost all data with this program)

I will keep everyone updated with more test results. I have tried many other DR programs, but these I have used most recently.

Keep in mind for my scenario, I have a test machine in the shop that I use to evalute Data Recovery and File Repair software. The biggest problem I find is, after I have recovered Word or Excel documents, 90% of the time they are too corrupted that even XLS or DOC Repair cannot fix them. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should be using for file repair of this sort?

Thanks.

DR is not only using software, you have to understand the file system. Otherwise you recovered data doesn't work sometime. :)
