WD20SMRM 810003 Zone allocation table : Error

September 7th, 2025, 22:02

HI everyone,

I have a WD20SMRM-59A4PS1 PCB: 810003 USB C Type.
Connecting to PC: light turns on, spins, hear heads moving. doesn't show in Bios.
Converted to SATA then connected to MRT: it doesn't power up and totally dead.
Unlocked ROM.
Transferred ROM and MCU from Patient PCB to a Donor PCB model 800067 then converted it to SATA by wiring to SATA connector and connected to MRT now it connects and turns on but can't show real capacity.
tried to upload LDR and tested heads and they look good.

any idea of what can be the issue?

Kind Regards
Josh

Here i see something conceptually wrong. If it spun and moved heads, why did it not do that after conversion? Converting to sata should never cause such thing.
i would play with a known-good pcb to try to access SA on the first hand.
