Depends on how bad the disk is. From the sounds of it, this is not a damaged head, but an unreadable section that the operating system forces the disk to read when connected.

Connect the drive directly to the computer's power supply without connecting the signal cable and listen to whether it clicks. Then it’s worth checking whether it is detected in the BIOS.

not detected in BIOS, sounds same with just powering on
