Problem with ancient disk - Seagate ST-412

June 13th, 2006, 14:04

After startup disk makes errors, format says that 0 track is bad...
But after 'warm up' drive works perfectly. It need ~2 mins for 'warm up'.
What can I do to get disk back to normal work?

Hello,

Why is it so important to get this drive working?
I would just copy the data to a good one and use that.

regards,
pepe

I'am collector, so for me it's important.
I have asked on 5 other forums, but noone gave me right solution.
Things that I've tried:

- low level formatting;
- media analyse;
- testing computer - something wrong is with HDD, computer is fine;
- disconnecting FDD, running computer only with HDD;
- cleaning termination chip;
- disassembling & reassembling;
- cleaning the drive;
- connecting drive to another power cable;

All failed.
