*Warning* About Seagate Barracudas made in China

July 3rd, 2006, 14:38

*Warning* There's possibly a quality control problem with Seagate Barracuda HDDs manufactured in China.

All of the Seagate Barracuda HDDs I had have degrading Read Error Rate and Seek Error Rate SMART attributes!

One thing I noticed is that all of the Seagate Barracuda HDD I owned were manufactured in China.

Has anyone else have a problem with degrading Read Error Rate and Seek Error Rate SMART attributes with their Seagate Barracuda HDDs?

*Update*

Another Seagate Barracuda 40 GB 7,200 RPM HDD, but manufactured in Singapore has the same problem.

The SMART is displaying non-zero raw data for the Read Error Rate and Seek Error Rate attributes. :(
