my hdd is 40GB but it show`s 31.50 GB

hi everybody
my hard disk capacity is 40GB but i`m only able to use 31.5GB of it.
i`ve formatted it with Hard Disk Low Level Format 2.36
but it didnt solve the problem.
plz guide me how can i recover the lost space.

if u have seagate check ur jumper settings there is a special jumper setting that makes the hdd 32gb approx.
if the jumper setting os ok then use mhdd .
and use nhpa command to reset the capacity of the hdd

it could happen by the curruption of the bios or some virus sould have done it that is what i know .
