I need Service Area documentation

Hi all,

First of all, I am very interested in data recovery services so I read hddguru forum for about few months and learn so much ( thanks guys, you are great). I have noticed that lots of hdd problems are related to Service Area. That's why I would like to learn more about this issue. I know that PC3000 can deal with it, but unfortunately I can't afford it. My question is do know good sources about Service Area? How is it organised etc. Maybe some of you we will be so kind and send me PC3000 manual or something like this? ( Please don't send out me to google, because I tried to find something about SA there with no result). I would be very appriaciated for your help.

Hi raf-pl,

Service Area information can be different for different manufacturers and models of HD. HD manufacturers don't share this information so it's pretty hard to get by. Most people here referee everyone to http://www.t13.org/
for any HD related questions. If you have not taken a closer look at this site I would do this. But I don't think it will give you satisfying information on SA. I am still new at this forum as well and am not a HDDGURU! But take a closer look at (BEER) Boot Engineering Extension Record
and the following ATA command: "SET MAX ADDRESS" This should help point you in to the right direction.

Unfortunatley I don't have SA documentation and most people will not share this because It took them a long time to find and research this information. Or because they paid allot of money for this.

the best documentation would be the PC3000 manuals, and the next best thing to the manuals is any valuable experience people from this forum are likely to share, unfortunately I do not think much will be shared as you need to appreciate all the hard work people have done to get this knowledge.
